Born in Sunnydale, Washington in 1958, Monte Pederson began his professional career with the San Francisco Opera where he began in the chorus, did two seasons in the Merola Program and was then an Adler Fellow. He was heard there in a variety of roles including appearences in the 1990 Ring as Donner in Das Rheingold and in Der fliegende Holländer. Pederson has grown increasingly indentified with the role of the Holländer and made his European debut in Montpellier in 1998 and Deutsche Oper Berlin debut in the role in 1989. He has also appeared in the role at the Bregenz Festival, Stuttgart State Opera, and at the Bastille Opera in Paris. Pederson made his German stage debut in the title role of the new production of Symanowski's King Roger in Bremen. He debuted in Cologne in 1990 as Jochanaan in Salome, returning for the new production of From the House of the Dead staged by Harry Kupfer in 1991. In 1990 he also debuted at the Chicago Lyric Opera as Claudius in Thomas' Hamlet, at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden as Pizarro in a new production of Fidelio under Chrystoph von Dohananyi, and at the Chatelet in Paris as Mefistopheles in Damnation de Faust. He debuted at the Zurich Opera in the title role of Eugene Onegin in the spring of 1991. The artist made both his Seattle and Miami opera debuts as the Four Villians in Les Contes D'Hoffmann. Pederson made his La Scala debut in December of 1991 as Klingsor in Parsifal under Riccardo Muti and also was heard in that production in other performances as Amfortas, the role with whice he made his Houston Opera debut in 1992 in a new production created by Bob Wilson.

Monte Pederson wurde 1958 in Sunnyside/Washington geboren und begann seine Karriere an der San Francisco Opera, wo er als Donner in Rheingold, Orest in Elektra und als Fliegender Holländer auftrat. Sein europäisches Debüt gab er 1988 als Fliegender Holländer, es folgte Klingsor in Wien, an der Mailänder Scala und in Houston. In Wien war er ferner als Kaspar, Escamillo in Carmen, Pizarro in Fidelio, Orest, Jochanaan, Amfortas, im Ring und zuletzt als Enescus Oedipe zu hören. Bei den Salzburger Festspielen debütierte er als Siskow in Janáceks Aus einem Totenhaus; daran schlossen sich Rangoni in Boris Godunow und Nick Shadow in The Rake's Progress an. An der Scala sang er Wotan in Rheingold und Walküre sowie den Wanderer in Siegfried, in Neapel Jochanaan und in Hamburg in Zemlinskys Der König Kandaules. In Stuttgart, wo er in Tosca die Partie des Scarpia singt, war er bereits als Siskow und als Fliegender Holländer zu hören.
