Bass-Baritone Monte Pederson has been praised for his performances at leading opera houses internationally, including the Vienna State Opera, Royal Opera, Covent Garden, La Scala Milan and at the Salzburg Festival. In March 1999 Mr. Pederson made his Metropolitan Opera debut as Orest in Elektra. He has been acclaimed for his command of the demanding Heldenbariton repertoire in roles such as the title role in Der Fliegende Holländer, Amfortas and Klingsor in Parsifal, Wotan in the Ring, Pizarro in Fidelio, Jochanaan in Salome, the title role in Eugene Onegin, Golaud in Pelleas et Melisande and Mephistopheles in Berlioz' Damnation de Faust. |
The artist sang the title role in Enescu's Oedipe at the Vienna State Opera and Deutsche Oper Berlin in a new production staged by Goetz Friedrich, appeared in the first performances of Zemlinsky's posthumous Der König Kandaulus at the Hamburg State Opera, as well as in Janacek's From the House of the Dead at the Salzburg Festival and at the Cologne Opera.
